Dynamic DICOM Command Forwarding > How it works

Listen
The SilverBack Workflow Engine SOP port is used to listen for incoming DICOM communications. The port continuously waits for incoming requests and. as they arrive, passes them onto the Workflow Engine.
Select Application
Entity Title (AET)
The target AET is compared with a list of the Workflow Engine's recognized DICOM entities to obtain the proper DICOM communication parameters for forwarding the command. These parameters are used to forward the command through the Workflow Engine SCU port.
Send Command
The SilverBack Workflow Engine SCU port is opened and the DICOM command is sent to the target AET, while applying any pre-defined controls and necessary translation.

For commands, such as C-MOVE, which require a destination AET/IP/port, the Workflow Engine dynamically opens a SCP port to receive the requested data. Simultaneously, the Workflow Engine coordinates with the source association to ensure that it remains open during the pending activity.
